I bet you clicked here to learn a little bit more about this magical place you stumbled into. You may be wondering, who is this chick writing? What is her purpose here? Well reader that just stumbled in here, your guess is as good as mine. I have no real purpose except to jot little things down about my life.
I’m Catherine and I’ve been blogging since 2002 and back when I started, I wrote about my life as a new mom and all the drama that came with having a newborn. That was 12 years ago.
This is me and my girl today. (and yes at 12 she is already taller than me!)
I’m 40 years young and live near Ann Arbor, Michigan. I’m not a pinterest mom that makes beautiful crafts for my kid to show off at school, nor am I pretending to have this life thing all figured out. My days are hard. I work too much, I over obligate myself and I run too much to make sure that I am an active participant in my daughters life. I judge good days by how many knots I got out of my daughters hair before I put it up in a pony.
The truth is, she’s all I have and I figure she’ll be heading off to college in five short years and I want to cherish every moment I have. I make mistakes daily, if not hourly. I am a spiritual person and I believe in God, but I don’t believe in preaching about my relationship with him or judging you for the way you live yours. The only thing I ask is that you don’t judge me, I don’t have time for that.
We have a dog. Her name is Sophie. I love her just about as much as I love my daughter. She is neurotic and crazy just like the rest of us and likes to bark at everything she hears. She has a special place in her heart for squirrels and can get so excited by just hearing someone say “squirrel” she actually tries to jump through closed windows to find one to ‘play’ with. She hates smoke alarms and loud yelling and will find the closest table to hide under during either occurrence. Unfortunately for her, I burn a lot of dinners and we yell more than we talk.
You may have found your way here because of something I wrote about Paleo eating. I am always working hard to convert my household over so that means we basically try to eat only meat, veggies, nuts, seeds and a little bit of fruit. I had dropped over 80 lbs eating Paleo along with CrossFit. I felt the best I had ever felt in my life. I performed great in the gym too! The problem is that I lost my way when I was fired from my 15 year job one afternoon unexpectedly. Double screwing, our home was tied to my job and life just went down the crapper pretty quick from there. I have spent the past three years trying to get back to eating and exercising right, but this time I’m focusing more on redefining myself permanently.
I’m soul searching these days and I’m writing it all down here. So if you are looking for some overly inspiring blog written by a writer with most excellent talent, I’m afraid you need to move on and find another spot to read. That’s not what is going on here. I barely have decent grammar from one sentence to the next.
If you do want to stick around and make a friend or share stories with a person that likes to pull over to the side of the road, just to take pictures with cows, I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with you here. Please do drop a note in the comment section to let me know your here and if you are writing, be sure to point me in the direction of your blog. I love to meet new people!
